Während die Deutsche Fussball-Liga eine direkte finanzielle Unterstützung der Bundesliga-Klubs im Zuge der Corona-Krise ausgeschlossen hat, wird die englische Liga ihre Vereine in der aktuellen Lage unterstützen. Übereinstimmenden Medienberichten zufolge werden die 20 Klubs finanzielle Zuschüsse erhalten.

Wie “Sky Sports UK” berichtet, haben sich die Klubs und die Liga am vergangenen Freitag darauf verständigt, dass die Vereine finanzielle Unterstützung im Zuge der Corona-Krise erhalten. Hierbei handelt es sich jedoch nicht um einen Kredit oder Subventionen, sondern viel mehr eine Art Vorauszahlung für Bonuszahlungen, die normalerweise erst am Ende der Saison ausgezahlt werden. Über die Höhe der Zahlungen ist nichts bekannt. Gerüchten zufolge handelt es sich jedoch um einen hohe einstellige Millionenzahl.
Durch die vorgezogenen Zahlungen soll den Klubs helfen den “laufenden Betrieb” während der Corona-Pause zu stemmen. Anders als in der Fussball Bundesliga wird das Thema Gehaltsverzicht in der Premier League deutlich kontroverser diskutiert. Bisher hat lediglich der FC Southampton eine entsprechende Gehaltskürzung mit seinen Profis vereinbart.
